|NEW APPEARANCE|

Singing sensation Chris Daughtry and his band will perform on the opening night of the Wichita River Festival on May 11.

Daughtry has won phenomenal success with his self-titled debut album. Released last November, it debuted at No. 2 on Billboard charts and went to No. 1 last month. His first single, "It's Not Over," is a radio mainstay.

His fans were shocked during last season's run of "American Idol," when he was ousted in fourth place despite many who were betting on him to win.

River Festival officials say Daughtry is perhaps the biggest name to be signed to perform at this year's festival, which May 11-19.

Here is the rest of the festival's lineup:

Saturday, May 12: The Guess Who and John Kay & Steppenwolf

Sunday, May 13: Little River Band

Monday, May 14: Gospel singer Vanessa Bell Armstrong

Wednesday, May 16: Country singer Craig Morgan

Thursday, May 17: Jazz and swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Friday, May 18: Pop music legend Chubby Checker

Saturday, May 19: Recording artist Patti Austin performing with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra

River Festival buttons go on sale at Wichita-area retailers on April 9. Buttons are $5 each. One button gains admission to festival events.
